Would Movie Makers Choose Taylor County for Television and Movie Productions? That is a question that the folks in LaGrange probably asked themselves before they took action and
became a Camera Ready Community. In addition to the designation, the community took photographs of areas in the community
that might interest film producers. These pictures included interior and exterior shots of the buildings, scenic vistas and
other community assets that film producers might be looking for in their film production. It turns out that they had exactly
what the filmmakers were looking for. The last major movie produced in
this region, was “Bingo Long Traveling All Stars and Motor Kings” directed by John Badham and
starring James Earl Jones, Billy D. Williams, Richard Pryor and others. It was shot in Talbotton and other cities in this
region way back in 1976. The film makers recreated store fronts for their movie by renovating store fronts in these small
towns. In 1976, this was downtown redevelopment for Talbotton. It was said that Steven Spielberg had wanted to have a hand
in the production of this movie, until the movie Jaws came into the picture. What
if Taylor County could have this same attention paid by the film and movie industry? We could, but we need your assistance.
The Taylor County Chamber of Commerce and Taylor County Industrial Development
Authority need citizens to help us collect the photographs that will be put into the picture database that can be accessed
by these producers and directors showing our old antebellum homes, river scenes, various buildings, old jail, depots, railroads,
country stores, farming areas, scenic areas, downtown storefronts, millponds, unique structures, etc. Working in cooperation
with River Valley Regional Commission and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs these photographs will be uploaded to
a database for future reference. So Taylor County shutter bugs, get your
cameras out and take those pictures………………………………......
